The Gefen EXT-DPKVM-241 is a switch between two computers effortlessly using the Gefen 2x1 DisplayPort KVM Switcher, utilizing one display and one USB 2.0 port for keyboard and mouse. Switch audio, video and control signals for each computer. Access two computers from one workstation without having to use a network. Switch through the front panel "select" button, using the supplied IR remote control or via the RS232 port. The Gefen DisplayPort KVM Switcher is compatible with both Macintosh and PC keyboards, mice and displays.
How It Works
Connect a DisplayPort display and USB 2.0 keyboard/mouse to the Gefen DisplayPort KVM Switcher output. Connect DisplayPort, USB and audio ports on both computers to the Gefen DisplayPort KVM Switcher input using the supplied cables.
Note:
If the source and/or display is not DisplayPort compliant, a protocol-specific protocol adapter will be required in order to connect the source to the Switcher and/or the Switcher to the high-resolution display.

Answer: Thank you for your patience. We just heard back from Gefen, the manufacturer. These DisplayPort switches are version 1.1 compliant.
Question: Hi, Why does Gefen EXT-DPKVM-241 has additional audio connector? isnt the Dport do it?
Answer: This switch has a total of 3 audio jacks. 2 for the input (1 per computer) and 1 for the output (for your sound). There is another jack next to the audio that looks very similar to an audio input. This is the Ext IR jack for the IR Remote Control.
Question: Does this switch fully support ALL DisplayPort 1.2 resolution/ refresh rate combinations: i.e., up to 2560 x 1600 @ 120Hz @ 30bpp?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. This device supports a max resolution of 2560x1600, but it is not clear what refresh rates and color depth this switch supports. We have reached out to the manufacturer for clarification and will update this post and product specifications when we hear back.
