The Gefen EXT-RMT-MATRIX-444 is a 4X4 Matrix RMT remote control which lets you control your Matrix switcher from a 1000 feet away. This Matrix Remote can be used to switch video in 3 different ways. The 4X4 Matrix RMT is connected directly to the Matrix device via CAT5 cable, you may push the buttons on top of the RMT Remote to switch video. The 4X4 Remote can also switch video wirelessly via Infra-Red using the RMT4-IR. Finally, an RS-232 port on the back of the Matrix RMT allows a remote computer or device to control the switching via RS-232 protocols. This last option is useful in data centers and operator panels where control may be initiated by a computer or a controller device.

How the Matrix Remote works:
You choose which method you will be using to control your Matrix device. For Infra-Red control, you need do nothing but point the RMT4-IR Remote at the 4X4 Matrix RMT Remote and press buttons to initiate switching. For RS-232 control you will connect a 9-pin serial cable to the back end of the Matrix RMT Remote, then initiate a command string from your remote devices.
