The MXWall-LT is a video wall processor and matrix switch with 4 HDMI inputs and 8 DVI outputs. Compact, plug-and-play, and excellent for mid-sized video wall displays between 4-12 screens with resolutions up to 1080p (1920x1080 @ 60Hz) Full HD. The MXWall-LT is simple to control, outfitted with easy front-panel buttons and optional RS-232 control. A lot of video wall controllers have cloning from one or more video inputs built in to the units.
This SmartAVI MXWALL-LT-0412-S (or i.e. the SmartAVI EZW4X4-S - see the brochure) system would let you plug in one or more separate video input sources and let you choose configure them across your 4x4 video wall using multiple preset configurations or by creating your own screen configuration (clone one input onto multiple screens, stretch an input across multiple displays, place inputs proportionally, place each input individually, etc. - see the manual for more).
For any video wall controller or other solution that would not support splitting natively, you can always use a physical video splitter in combination with the unit.
