The Avocent SwitchView SVIP1020-001 is a remote access device which includes an on-board Web interface that gives small to medium size businesses convenient, secure, browser-based access to existing KVM switches and servers. The SwitchView IP 1020 lets you select DES, 3DES, AES or 128bit SSL encryption for keyboard, mouse and video. The device's Java video viewer supports Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox and Netscape. Plus, the SwitchView IP 1020 remote access device is Flash upgradeable for fast and easy updates. With this remote access solution, you also utilize the Dambrackas Video Compression (DVC) algorithm for high quality video and you gain a local port for convenient connectivity to the KVM switch or server.

Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, detailed technical support is beyond the scope of this simple FAQ. That being said, here is some information. It is entirely possible that a recent java update is not compatible with the viewer. Although Avocent is typically pretty good at releasing firmware updates, the last firmware update for the SVIP1020 is dated 7-29-2008 (http://www.avocent.com/Support_Firmware/SwitchView_Digital/SwitchView_IP_1020_Remote_Access_Device.aspx).
We have not seen this particular error before, but it may be possible to add the SVIP1020 to an Exception Site list. Instructions for configuring the exception list can be found here: http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/exception_sitelist.xml.
