ATEN SXP500 Serial/Parallel Reversible Converter
The ATEN SXP500 allows Centronics and RS-232 devices to communicate with each other via serial to parallel or parallel to serial conversion. Simple DIP Switch settings establish the flow direction, serial transfer parameters, etc. The serial baud rate can be set from 1200 to 115200 bps., with support for both hardware and software (XON/XOFF) handshaking. The parallel interface speed is 92.16 Kbytes/sec. The ATEN SXP500 provides a DB-9 RS-232C (DCE) compatible connector attached to a 1.8m cable at one end, and a C-36 Centronics connector integrated on the unit body. This SXP500 design allows the serial and parallel devices to be connected directly (provided they are located close enough to each other), without the need for additional cables.
ATEN SXP500 Features:
- DIP Switch for Direction Setting Serial baud rate 1200 to 115200 bps (DIP switch selectable) DB9 (DCE) to Centronics-36 (C36) Parallel Interface 92.16 Kb/sec. Both Hardware and Software (XON/XOFF) Handshaking Non Powered Easy Installation

Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. The SXP500 is a reversible Serial/Parallel converter. Unfortunately, we are not having much luck finding an exact replacement either. Depending on which way you need to convert, you might try looking for part number PI126A (a parallel to serial converter) from BlackBox.
