Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista
Mac OS X v10.3 and above
Linux
Question: with this work with a wireless keyboard and mouse?
Answer: Unfortunately, there is no KVM on the market that states it will work for wireless keyboard and mice. It's hit or miss for every application. We typically suggest a higher quality KVM manufacture when attempting this solution. We have had many customers go with an Avocent switch and not run into problems.
You can find a list of Avocent KVM switches here: https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/avocent.html. If you would like more assistance, please give us a call at 1-877-586-6654.
Question: I have older Mac mini and windows vista. Want to share the monster and keyboard. Both have USB. Will this item work?
Answer: Yes, this Belkin Flip KVM should work as long as the operating systems are supported. Belkin states that the F1DG102W is compatible with the following operating systems:
Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista
Mac OS X v10.3 and above
Linux
Question: does it need power adapter? how many mA?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. This unit will draw power from the USB connection. The remote switch unit uses a 3v battery. Unfortunately, Belkin doesn't provide detailed power information.
Question: How do I remove the Belkin Flip 3v. Wireless battery besides the the underneth cover?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. As best we understand, the only way to remove the battery would be the cover. For more detailed product support, you may want to contact the manufacturer, Belkin, directly at http://www.belkin.com/us/support.
Question: The remote is not working... The green light doesn't light up or anything. Brand New out of the box. Is there an alternate toggle switch?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Because user environments vary widely, detailed product support is beyond the scope of this simple FAQ. That being said, here are a few thoughts. It is possible the battery for the remote is installed incorrectly, not at all, or is not operating as designed. It should be a 3v button style battery located in the remote.
Apparently there is also software that can be installed to allow hotkey switching via the keyboard. Unfortunately, we could no locate the software on the Belkin website as directed in the manual. We did, however, locate software listed for another version of the Flip KVM when searching the Belkin support site: http://www.belkin.com/us/support-search?search=flip. We could not say for sure if it would work or not for the F1DG102W and would not in any way recommend, guarantee, or warranty using the software.
For further assistance, please contact Belkin directly. Contact information can be found here: http://www.belkin.com/us/contactus/support/.
Question: Will this product support a wireless mouse and keyboard?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, due to the very different way in which wireless keyboards and mice communicate, there are no KVMs that explicitly support that configuration.
While it may work, for the best performance and comparability, we always recommend basic (no extra software or drivers required), wired mice and keyboards.
Question: I have Windows 7 and Windows 8, which apparently will not be supported by this product, I have found a product that claims that with this driver upgrade it will work. any comments?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Since this is a hardware based switch, that does not require any drivers, we would be skeptical of the claim. Belkin does provide software that enables hot-key switching, but it would not increase compatibility to windows 7 and 8.
Generally the switch will either work, or not work with any particular operating system. If the switch is not compatible with an operating system, a firmware upgrade to the switch is likely required. Unfortunately, we are not aware of any firmware upgrades available for this Belkin Flip KVM.
Question: How do you use keyboard commands with this KVM switch
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, this Flip KVM does not natively support "hotkey" switching by keyboard command.
At one point in time there was a software package that could be installed to add support for "hotkey" switching, but we could no longer locate the install file or support for the optional software.
We did find information on replacing the wireless remote if it was lost on Blekin's website. That information can be found here: http://belkin.force.com/Articles/articles/en_US/FAQ/9771#h3.
Question: I bought Belkin Flip USB with Audio KVM Switch and I have Windows 7 64 bit. Is there any way to get this product to work with that Windows version?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we are not aware of a firmware upgrade that would allow this unit to work properly with Windows 7.
Answer: Unfortunately no. According to the manufacturers website, this switch is compatible with the following operating systems:
Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista
Mac OS X v10.3 and above
Linux
An alternative would be the https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/cs1732b2.html, which Aten states will work with 64bit Windows 7.
