Question: Your desc: "Instant monitor, mouse and keyboard switching via emulation" - does this item actually have DP emulation (EDID)?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

Since DisplayPort is a data signal connection instead of a typical video signal, most manufacturers including Avocent have not implemented DP video emulation. It is typical to notice a couple of second delay during switching with the SV240D.

However, SmartAVI did recently came out with a new switch series (D2H-4P-S / D2H-4P-Duo-S / D2H-4P-Quad-S) that emulates HDMI video signal over a DisplayPort connection.

Thank you for the feedback, I will fix that bullet based on the product family asap.

Question: Does this KVM support 2560x1440 at 60 Hz?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The Avocent SV240 does indeed support 2560x1440 at 60 Hz via Dual-Link DVI. The SV240 also supports up to UHD 4K - 3840X2160 pixels @ 30 Hz (via DVI to HDMI cable).

Question: Does this KVM support 2560x1440 at 75Hz?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

I have confirmed with Avocent product development that the SV240D does indeed support a resolution of 2560x1440 at 75Hz.

Question: Does the SV240D-001 KVM switch support Peripheral Emulation? I recently bought several KVMs that did not have this feature and had to return them, as lack of this feature negates the purpose of having them.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The Avocent SV240D supports Emulation for the USB Keyboard and Mouse ports (USB-HID devices). Transparent USB Peripheral ports are transparent by nature to allow any USB device to work on the KVM.

For a reccomendation based on your application, please feel free to contact your KVM Switches Online sales representative directly.

Question: Does this KVM support 3440x1440 (21:9 ultra-wide) at 60Hz?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry Mike,

The SV240D can support HD 4K resolutions up to 3840x2160 @ 30Hz, so "3440x1440 at 60 hrz should not be a problem on this switch" (confirmed with the factory).

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you out with.

Question: Does with switch support DisplayPort 1.2 With MST - so two MST monitors can be daisy chained together?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

Avocent technical support has not yet tested the SV240D in Multi-Stream Transport (MST) mode - I'm checking with Avocent's lead Product Manager to see if they have tried this before. I will update this post as soon as we hear back.

UPDATE ---
Thank you for your patience. Per your request, Avocent product engineering has confirmed that all of the DisplayPort SwitchView KVMs (SV models) should support Multi-Stream Transport (MST), except for the SwitchView Secure Switches (SC models). MST support will most likely not be added to the Secure switches due to the fundamental nature of NIAP-certified Secure KVM Switches.

UPDATE 2 ---
Due to some known issues with certain monitors and Radeon graphics cards, as of now (2018/04/24), Avocent switches do not officially support MST functionality. We are unable to guarantee compatibility between Avocent switches and MST devices.

Question: Does Avocent SV240D come with all the DP KVM cables?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The KVM Cables are sold separately for the Avocent SV240D KVM-

KVM Cable for Avocent (by Vertiv) SV240D: Avocent CBL00122 - Cybex 6ft USB DisplayPort KVM Cable with Audio

Question: I bought the SV240D but it did not include cables. I need cables to connect.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

Avocent (by Vertiv) SV240D cables are sold separate from the unit; You can purchase the official CBL0122 USB DisplayPort KVM Cables with Audio (6ft) here.

Question: Does this work with MacBooks that have USB-C out only? My current KVM does not work using USB-C->DisplayPort dongles. Confirmed with vendor.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

According to the vendor the SV240D KVM units do not support USB type-C.

That being said you could use a HDMI-based KVM with USB-C -> HDMI adapters, for example the SmartAVI UHDN-4PS.

Also as far as alternative DisplayPort KVMs go, according to the Aten's product development team, as long as you are able test the setup with the monitors and kb/mouse directly connected without the KVM and it works, the Aten CS1944DP KVM would most likely work for your application as well.

Please note, for the DisplayPort dongles and if you are using a 'dock', sometimes certain adapters can be problematic in general with DP KVMs.
