The Icron USB 3-2-1 Raven 3124 (00-00437) provides the ability to connect all USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) device types and is backwards compatible to USB 2.0 and 1.1 across a point-to-point connection up to 650ft / 200m over Multimode Fiber. The Raven 3124 also includes an Ethernet pass-through for connecting to network enabled devices or to use existing infrastructure without losing LAN connectivity.
The Raven 3104 incorporates ExtremeUSB-C™ technology, enabling users to extend USB 3.1 beyond the standard 10ft / 3m cable limit for USB 3.1 peripheral devices. This extender system is composed of two individual units, the LEX and the REX and allows for up to 600ft / 200m of extension when directly connected over OM3 multimode fiber for your USB 3.1 Gen 1/2 host controllers and devices (up to 5 Gbps). The Raven 3124 is fully backwards compatible and supports all USB device types.
If your USB 3.1 extender application requires extension over CatX cable instead, please see the related Icron USB 3-2-1 Raven 3104 extender.

Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,
That is correct! The Icron Raven 3124 offers a 100 Mbps Ethernet (LAN) pass through connection that can be used for a variety of purposes including:
- Connecting network / IP devices from far away
- Providing remote network access to the same location as the REX unit
- Leveraging existing cabling to provide USB 3-2-1 connectivity without losing network connectivity
See below for a diagram of extending a network CAT5 cable device:
Connect any network device or access port into the RJ45 socket label "LAN" using up to 100 meters of standard CAT 5e, 6 or 7 cabling on each side of the extender kit
